Musical Theatre Lab

Running Deer Musical Theatre Lab

About the Musical Theatre Lab

At Running Deer Musical Theatre Lab, we understand that, as a producer, it’s difficult to find the space to allow your creative team to do their best work. Founded and operated by a Broadway producer, the Musical Theatre Lab is designed specifically to provide writers a space free from scrutiny and distractions to create new musicals.

Location, Location, Location

The Musical Theater Lab is located an hour outside of Portland, OR at Running Deer Ranch,  a serene, secluded retreat nestled on 84 acres in Trout Lake, Washington at the base of Mt. Adams.  Running Deer Ranch provides a spectacular setting to work (and play)! Creative teams enjoy exceptional food on site and cozy lodging in a secluded cabin in the woods.

Unparalleled Creative Space

The Lab provides the opportunity for musical theater composers, lyricists and writers to escape for a week of intense collaboration. Writers, producers and creative teams will find everything they need at the Lab to make their stay productive. The facility hosts two homes and a theater.

Lab participation is by invitation only.
